Friends of Columbia Gorge Center/Donation Forms

Friends of Columbia Gorge Center was created by Columbia Gorge Center's Board of Directors in February 1993 to provide an opportunity for community members to support the Center's activities and services in a wide variety of ways. Membership in Friends of Columbia Gorge Center is open to anyone interested in supporting the mission of Columbia Gorge Center for a one-time initiation fee of $25.

Friends may contribute to the mission of Columbia Gorge Center through volunteer activities and financial support.

Friends may volunteer in many ways, including:

• Direct assistance of people with disabilities in their efforts to achieve control of their lives, attain basic competencies, and participate in satisfying activities;
• Assistance with fund-raising and public relations events;
• Membership on special committees established by the Board of Directors.

Financial Support

Silver Club: The Silver Club is open to members who have made a financial commitment of $100 or more to Columbia Gorge Center.

Gold Club: The Gold Club is open to members who have made a financial commitment of $500 or more to Columbia Gorge Center.

Quarter-Million-Dollar Club:
The Quarter-Million-Dollar Club is open to members who have made a financial commitment of $1,000 or more to Columbia Gorge Center.

Funds collected through the volunteer efforts of Friends of Columbia Gorge Center, unless otherwise designated, will be deposited in the Columbia Gorge Center Endowment Fund. The Endowment Fund is designed to enable all initiation fees, club memberships, undesignated financial gifts, memorials, and Friends memberships to permanently enhance the Center's ability to fulfill its mission. The Finance Committee of Columbia Gorge Center's Board of Directors makes the investment decisions regarding the fund. Decisions involving utilization of proceeds from investment of the Fund are made by the full Board of Directors, through recommendation from staff of the Center and/or members of the Friends of Columbia Gorge Center. Uses of proceeds from the Fund include:

• Direct support of vocational or residential services for individuals without public or private support;
• Emergency dental services;
• Support to enable individuals with disabilities to take vacations;
• Start-up costs of business ventures designed to employ persons with disabilities.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors consists of a representative cross section of community leaders who volunteer their time to guide and direct Columbia Gorge Center. This representation includes family members of people with disabilities, business and professional persons, and residents of Hood River and Wasco counties. The Board of Directors is responsible for establishing policy needed to maintain high operation standards for the Center.

Committees

Members of the Board of Directors serve the organization by participating in a variety of committees:

Executive: Evaluates and recommends action to the full board and provides the Executive Director with a decision-making process to expedite action when needed; plans the overall course of action to be taken in the provision of services.

Finance: Recommends and reviews budgets; makes recommendations to the board regarding general financial policy; advises the Executive Director in the management of funds.

Public Relations: Plans and carries out an appropriate program of publicity and fund-raising that supports and promotes the activities of the organization.

Personnel: Reviews personnel policies; responds to client and staff grievances; conducts annual performance appraisal of the Executive Director; advises the Executive Director on personnel policies.

Nominating and Bylaws: Recruits potential board members; develops slate of officers for approval by the full board; reviews bylaws and recommends needed changes.

Program: Reviews program evaluation reports and monitors overall program performance, reporting status to full board at least quarterly.
